History

Dancer and Choreographer Bruce “Ykanji” Sone organized Juste Debout Steez for the first time in Paris in 2002 to support “upstyle” street dance styles (Hip Hop Newstyle, House, Locking and Popping) to balance the scale against several bboying-contests arranged around the globe. In nine years Juste Debout has become the largest, best known and most street credible of all street dance events in the world.

The competition is known of its great atmosphere, good quality dancing and not the least of the judging panel that always consists of well known characters and legends within the industry.

The competition form is 2 vs. 2 battles in the above mentioned styles, Top Rock with 1 vs 1 battles and solos in the Experimental category. The winners of the Finnish pre-selection in each style will advance directly to the Juste Debout Steez Final in Paris on 11.3.2012 where the 16 best pairs / top rockers in the world in each style will meet in the world final and battle for the prestigious Juste Debout Steez Champion – title.

The other 15 contestants will qualify from the pre-selections organized in Japan (Tokyo), China (Shanghai), Singapore, Canada (Montreal) Sweden (Stockholm), Spain (Barcelona), Netherlands (Amsterdam), Ireland (Dublin), Switzerland (Geneva), Italy (Rome), Poland (Szczecin), United Kingdom (London), Germany (Düsseldorf) and France (Paris). The final will be organized at the Paris Bercy Arena where the 2011 finals attracted more than 15 000 spectators!
