History

Nordic Moves has every year hosted a crew showcase competition as part of its program.

In 2012 we are honoured to run the first ever Dance Delight preselection in Finland. Dance Delight is the most prestigious showcase contest for urban dance crews in the world and it has been run already for 21 consecutive years in Japan. The final will be organized in Tokyo on 26.8.2012.

The competition is internationally open for dancers with at least 15 years of age and it is expected to attract in addition to the Finnish top street dancers several international crews. All urban dance styles (Old School Hip Hop, Newstyle, B-boying, Locking, Popping, House, Krumping, Waacking, Vogue, Afro Street, Street Jazz, Urban Contemporary etc.) are allowed and the crews can consist of 2-7 dancers.

The winners of the Helsinki preselection will compete at the world final in Tokyo in August 2012 the winners of the other international preselections (Osaka, Seoulista, Singapore, Shanghai, Taipei, New York and Paris).

Helsinki Dance Delight will be judged by the president of Dance Delight – organization, Mitsuhiro ”Bboy Machine” Harada (japan) with Yaman (France), Dashaun Evisu (USA), Gator (France), Physs (France), Babson (France) ja Sara Hirn (Finland) and hosted by the organizer of Nordic Moves, Jouni Janatuinen and Estonian dancer/model Helen Preis.

In addition to the competition the audience will be treated by performances of three world famous dance crews: Pro Phenomen (FRA), Serial Stepperz (FRA) and Vogue’ology (USA).
